Popular new attractions for youth include new kinds of music, different and real topics in movies, youth romanticism in books, and various websites.

We can easily appreciate how the young Latinos follow new rhythms in music. Reggaeton, which is a mix of reggae/dancehall, traditional Latin, hip hop and Spanish rap, was created in Latin America and has spread in popularity throughout the world, especially in the at the beginning of this decade. The main reasons seem to be sensuality and danceability.

Some of the popular artists and groups are these.  Wisin y Yandel (winners of the Latin Grammy 2008), Daddy Yanke, Don Omar, and as the one of the few women in this genre, Evie.

Pop and rock are strongly established choices as well.  Clumbian band Juanes has had a terrific success during the last few years, as same as Shakira, also Colombian, who has introduced her music to United States and Europe to excellent response.

Rock and alternative music popularity also comes from Mexico as Molotov and Cafe Tacuva, along with Julieta Venegas. A new electronic pop has taken many fans too, primarily from the leading group Belanova.

 

In Mexico, besides reggaeton and electronic pop, young people follow the traditional popular Mexican music. There is a new rhythm influencing DJ selections and mixes in radio stations and dance clubs. Duranguense (also known as el pasito duranguense) is a genre of Mexican music. It is popular among Mexico and the Mexican-American community in the United States.
 
Duranguense is closely related to the Mexican styles of banda and norteño.  Montez de durango, Alacranes Musical, Horoscopos de durango, are some of the groups enjoying major popularity.

In Brazil, Axé music is a popular music genre originated in Salvador, Bahia, approximately 1986, and fusing different Afro-Brazilian genres. Youth people really like it and dance to it. Today, Ivete Sagalo is the most representative singer of this genre.
